Maybe It's Time to Search U.S. Census Records Again!
Ancestry.com recently announced an "enhanced U.S. census collection." Among the changes announced are:
Clearer images for 1790-1900 censuses-NEW: 1800, 1830, 1840, 1860, 1870
Better indexes for 1850, 1860, 1870, 1900 censuses – NEW: 1860, 1870
In all there are over two hundred million cleaner sharper records.
Miriam Robbins Midkiff writes a blog named AnceStories. In a blog dated Sunday 13 December, she explains the importance of state censuses and includes a new compilation of online state census records. Some of these state records are available on FamilySearch.org, and the remainder are found on Ancestry Library Edition. Ancestry can be accessed only through personal subscription or when visiting one of the Springfield-Greene County Library District branches.
