The Library Scares Up Some Kid-Size Fun for Halloween

October 1, 2014 —      Halloween is coming! Looking for some fun activities for the kids? Several branches of the Springfield-Greene County Library District have scheduled everything from storytimes to costume parades. Visit one or go to all of them!

• Monster Mash Costume Parade, Saturday, Oct. 25, 11 a.m. in the Library Station Frisco Room, for all ages. Join us for not-so-spooky stories and activities, followed by the Library Station's famous annual costume parade. We'll march through the Library and collect treats in each department. Wear your costume! Call 865-1340. 

• Uncle Gregory’s Monster Bash, Saturday, Oct. 25, 2 p.m. for preschool-grade 5, in the Brentwood Branch Library. Join Uncle Gregory for scary stories, monster dancing, crafts, games and prizes. Call 883-1974.

• Monster Madness, Tuesday, Oct. 28, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Strafford Branch Library, for ages 2-grade 4. Celebrate Halloween early with monster activities, crafts and snacks throughout the day. We’ll read “Monster Needs a Costume” by Paul Czajak during a special Racing to Read Storytime. Materials will be provided. Call 736-9233.

• Pumpkin Parade Storytime, Tuesday, Oct. 28, 11 a.m. in the Willard Branch Library, for infants-age 6. Bring your treat pail to the Library for Halloween-themed stories, crafts and a candy hunt in the Library. Costumes are welcome. Call 742-4258.

• Little Monster’s Storytime, Wednesday, Oct. 29 (and Friday, Oct. 31), 10 a.m., Republic Branch Library, for infants-age 6. Wear your costumes and scare up some fun with silly, not-so-spooky stories, songs and activities. Call 732-7284.

• “Click, Clack, Boo!” Friday, Oct. 31, 10 a.m., Midtown Carnegie Branch Library, for infants-age 6. Wear your costume to celebrate Halloween. We’ll “party ‘til the cows come home” with stories, songs and activities. Call 862-0135.

• Little Monster’s Storytime, Friday, Oct. 31, 10 a.m., Republic Branch Library, for infants-age 6. Wear your costumes and scare up some fun with silly, not-so-spooky stories, songs and activities. Call 732-7284.

• Halloween Storytime, Friday, Oct. 31, 9:30 a.m., 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. in the Library Center Story Hour Room, for all ages. Dress up in costume for a storytime that’s a little bit spooky but a lot of fun! We’ll also go on a trick-or-treat parade through the Library. Call 882-0714.
