LEGAL ASSISTANCE POLICY
All information accessible from the Springfield Greene County Library is intended for general public and educational use only. Access to the library should not be regarded or taken as legal advice that would be provided by an attorney to his or her client.
Library staff does not provide legal advice and counsel. Individuals who require legal advice should contact an attorney. Assistance locating an attorney is available from professional organizations. Library staff can assist in locating these professional organizations.
The unauthorized practice of law is prohibited in Missouri (Missouri Revised Statutes 484.020). Library staff is not qualified to explain or interpret the content of legal reference sources. Staff may not make recommendations to specific lawyers or legal firms but may provide access to other information that may help the user identify and locate those resources.
Staff will explain the mechanics of using the materials, how to locate information using subjects, indexes and tables of contents.
