Researching health information online can be especially difficult for older adults. The following is a list of helpful websites for finding information on staying healthy, government assistance programs and general medical issues for older populations.
The National Institutes of Health SeniorHealth webpage has lots of wonderful information aimed specifically at older audiences. Their webpage is specifically designed for easy navigation, readability and good compatibility for use with screen readers for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. The website covers a large variety of health topics for older adults including exercise and fitness, chronic health issues, memory and mental health issues, and much more. The website also contains many online health videos, as well as training resources for those involved in senior health education.
The Centers for Disease Control's Healthy Aging website is another very good website for older adults and caregivers. The website provides a good deal of health information aimed specifically at older adults, as well as providing more detailed information on the latest research and statistics related to health and older adults.
The National Council on Aging's website is also a very good source of information for older adults. The website contains resources and links to a wide variety of information covering government benefits, chronic conditions, personal finance and much more.
