Enjoy Holiday Fun for Everyone at the Library

About this time of the month, we all need a break from the planning-shopping-cooking-decorating frenzy. If you’ve got little ones in the house, a sweet diversion may do everyone some good. How about a library program? We have many in this countdown to Dec. 25.

The Springfield Symphony’s Brass Quintet performs holiday music during Holiday Horns at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, in the Midtown Carnegie Branch upstairs meeting room. Refreshments will be served.

On Friday, Dec. 16, it’s a Countdown to Christmas Storytime at 9:30 a.m. at the Ash Grove Branch for infants-age 6; and at 10 a.m. at the Midtown Carnegie Branch.

The Park Central Branch has Holiday Craft Extravaganza at 10:30 a.m. Saturday Dec. 17, for grades K-5. Materials provided.

On Saturday, Dec. 17, for all ages, it’s Afternoon at the Movies from 2-4 p.m. featuring the classic musical “White Christmas” in the Library Center auditorium.

Board Game Night is a fun break for grade 4-adult from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Dec.19 in the Library Center Story Hour Room. Games will be provided or you can bring your own.

The Republic Branch Library hosts a Grinch Christmas Party at 6 p.m. Dec. 20 for preschool-grade 5. We'll read “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and celebrate with activities and snacks.

On Dec. 21, the Republic Branch staff hosts Christmas Storytime at 10 a.m. for infants-age 6.

For adults at noon, Dec. 21, take in a Brown Bag Travelogue, “The Christmas Witch and Other Italian Holiday Surprises” with Laura Provance at the Dan Kinney Family Center, 2701 S. Blackman Road.

All ages are welcome to watch “Elf” and enjoy hot cocoa, popcorn and paper ornament making from 4-6 p.m. Dec. 21 in the Midtown Carnegie Branch upstairs meeting room. Materials will be provided.

Please note: The temporary Brentwood Branch location across from Battlefield Mall will close permanently at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, so that staff can complete the move back to the renovated Schweitzer Brentwood Branch in time for the grand opening Jan. 7.
