Gift Shop Sidewalk Sale June 1-2; May 31 Mystery Madness at the Midtown Carnegie Branch; Library Center Projects in June
The Between Friends Gift Shop at the Library Center is a perfect place to pick up unique gifts and home décor, and on Friday and Saturday, June 1-2, you can get some of the shop’s signature items priced at 50 percent and 75 percent off. It’s the gift shop’s annual Sidewalk Sale from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m.-noon Saturday in meeting rooms A and B.
Gift shop Manager Shelli Kaminski says think summer birthdays, weddings and early Christmas shopping. You’ll find jewelry, scarves, cards, frames, plush toys, stationery and home décor at a fraction of their original cost. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted, and there’s no tax. Proceeds from the sale come back to you as programs and services that you and many families enjoy.

About 13,500 people visit the Library Center or use the drive-up service window in an average week. So two projects there beginning June 17 will affect a lot of people, and we want to give you advance warning.
On June 17 and 18, workers will resurface and stripe the public and staff parking lots. Designated parking and driveway access will be available, but the book drop and drive-up service window lane will be closed one of those days. We will provide a temporary book drop.
Beginning June 24 and for several weeks, workers will recarpet large areas of the Library Center. The big meeting rooms and several departments will remain open, but patrons and staff will not have access to a significant amount of the collection. We will remain open for normal business and passport applications, and will appreciate your patience during the disruption.
