Best-seller Circe Author Madeline Miller to Speak April 11
Family rivalry. Palace intrigue. Love. Loss. Vengeance. Hope. It’s all there in the 2019 One Read title, “Circe,” by Madeline Miller, who will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 11, on the main floor of the Library Center. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
Gods and Monsters: An Evening with Madeline Miller, will be an interview-style presentation conducted by William Garvin, director of Drury University’s F.W. Olin Library.

Miller grew up in New York City and Philadelphia, near where she lives now. At Brown University she earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Classics. She has taught and tutored Latin, Greek and Shakespeare to high school students for the past 20 years.
Miller has also studied at the University of Chicago’s Committee on Social Thought, and in the Dramaturgy Department at Yale School of Drama, where she focused on the adaptation of classical texts to modern forms.
“Circe,” her second novel, was an instant No.1 New York Times best-seller, and won the 2018 Elle Big Book Award. Madeline's essays have appeared in a number of publications including the Guardian, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Telegraph, Lapham's Quarterly and NPR.org. “The Song of Achilles,” her first novel, was a New York Times Bestseller.
