Authors Paul Bass and Jean Butler Newman will sell and sign copies of their books from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, in the Library Center concourse, 4653 S. Campbell Ave. Author Jim Rich will sell and sign copies of his books from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Paul Bass will have copies available of his new book, “Missouri Innovators: Famous (and Infamous) Missourians Who Led the Way in Their Field,” presenting more than 75 exceptional Missourians who made significant contributions in the areas of entertainment and the fine arts, education and literature, business and industry, science and technology, politics, the military, athletics and more. Paul will also have copies available of “History of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri” and “Pioneer Churches of Springfield, Missouri.”

Jean Butler Newman’s book, “Born to Translate: The Life and Works of Barclay Moon Newman, Jr.,” shares a behind-the-scenes look at her late husband’s work leading a team of Biblical-language scholars in their efforts to create the Contemporary English Version of the Holy Bible.

Jim Rich will have copies available of “Embracing Mediocrity: The Pitfall of Public Education in America since 1900: (And elsewhere before),” an examination of educational systems from the Roman Republic to modern times that he sees as having simply embraced mediocrity in an effort to make things look better than they really are. Jim will also have copies available of his memoir, “The Life and Times of the Reverend Rebel Rich: And Grace Shall Guide Me Home.” Having grown up in Missouri, Jim traces his experiences working his way through college, serving in the military, and working in several businesses before starting a 31-year career in public education.
