We Just Made Finding Your Next Read Easier!

You just finished the last book on your nightstand and you’re itching for another good story. Let us help you find your next read!

Your Next Read – that’s the name of the library’s updated, personal service. It’s online at thelibrary.org/yournextread. The link is also on the library’s homepage.

Librarians specialize in “readers’ advisory,” suggesting titles, music or movies to patrons based on their preferences.

“We had been using paper Your Next Read forms in the branches, and we wanted to reach more patrons, and to make it possible for them to fill out their requests online, anytime,” says Library Center Reference Manager Kathi Woodward.

“We hope that readers can tell us what reading mood they're in and what things they've enjoyed in the past,” Woodward says, “and we can use our experience to recommend some great ideas for what to read next. Patrons can save time and find out about titles they might never have come across.”

The site offers a short survey to give us an idea of what you like to read. In three to five days you’ll receive a personalized reading list sent to your email, or a printed list to pick up at your library branch.

You can request a list for readers age 13 and older, or for a child age 12 and under. We ask your name and email or telephone so we can alert you with your personalized list. You can select preferred formats – book, large print, e-book, audiobook on CD, digital audiobook – and fiction or nonfiction genres.

To help us compile a more personalized reading list, it asks what books and authors you like, and content or authors you don’t. And you can tell us your interests, if you wish.

Click submit, and a personalized booklist will soon be yours.

If you’re a fan of the Between Friends Gift Shop at the Library Center, save the date for the annual sidewalk sale. Hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on June 7, and 9 a.m.-noon on June 8 in the Library Center meeting rooms A and B. Proceeds from all sales support the library district.
