Victorian Web provides a feast of literature, history and culture in the age of Victoria

Charles Dickens was not the only writer from this literary period (1837-1901) to become a mainstay of todays favorite authors.  Dickens wrote the most famous Christmas ghost story, A Christmas Carol (1843), and also a Christmas fairy story intended to be read aloud on winter evenings, The Cricket on the Hearth: A Fairy-tale of Home (1846).
