Got a question? Ask a Librarian on New Telephone Infoline
The Springfield-Greene County Libraries are closed for now, but patrons still have lots of questions including:
- “Will I be fined since I can’t return my overdue books?”
- “My library card just expired. How can I renew it?”
- “Where can I research a medical question online?”
To answer research or library questions quickly, the Library District has opened a telephone reference service, “Infoline,” that is staffed by a team of librarians. If the librarians don’t know the answer, they’ll find it.
The Infoline number is 417-882-0714. Callers will be asked to leave a voicemail message, their name and a callback number. Staff will retrieve messages and return calls from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday; and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
Infoline will be discontinued effective May 18, when staff will resume answering branch telephones.
Note: Infoline staff cannot answer questions about a patron’s personal account or give access to digital resources. Those questions should be submitted to Ask a Librarian at https://thelibrary.org/contact.cfm
All library buildings, drive-up windows, Mobile Library and 24-hour Library Express West are closed in compliance with health and government officials’ stay-at-home order during the coronavirus pandemic. When the time comes, the Library will follow health officials’ recommendations for a gradual restart of services.
In the meantime, library card holders can still access e-books, audiobooks, magazines, movies and music through thelibrary.org/digital. They can also read online newspapers, do research and get homework help through thelibrary.org/research.
