Don’t Smear Kisses on V-Mail letters

"Lipstick kisses may furnish just the right trim for Valentine letters and they may look good on some stationery but not on V-mail. The Army has noted such kisses create smudges on other letters. For that reason, says Major Orman V. Rowe, lipstick traces have been barred from V-mail. Thus the best kisses for V-mail are still made with cross marks X X X." Leader & Press, February 3, 1944
