Three Spring Concerts Feature Irish Tunes, Jazz and a Symphony Favorite
The Friends of the Library are sponsoring three unique concerts in March for lovers of Irish traditional tunes, jazz and classical symphony. All concerts are free and open to the public.
The Second Sunday Concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 12, in the Library Center auditorium features The Bold Deniers to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Featuring Jane Caldwell, Turner Collins and Jesse Owsley, these singers and multi-instrumentalists united in the performance of Irish dance tunes, traditional and contemporary songs.
The Library Station kicks off its spring concert series, Good Vibrations at the Station, at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 18, in the Frisco Room. Singer-songwriter Jin J. X is a jazz guitarist who uses looping and jazz harmonies while exploring topics such as race, class and matters of the heart
The whole family will enjoy a 45-minute concert at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 26, when the Springfield Symphony Chamber Orchestra performs Prokofiev’s "Peter and the Wolf.” Returning to the stage to conduct and narrate the concert is Symphony Music Director and Conductor Kyle Wiley Pickett. The concert will be on the main floor of the Library Center. Come early for a good seat!
