Storyteller Bobby Norfolk Brings Music and Stories June 10

Emmy Award-winning Storyteller Bobby Norfolk brings two family-friendly shows on June 10 to celebrate the Summer Reading Program theme, “All Together Now.” Don’t miss these two fun-filled programs for all ages.

First, it’s Anansi the Spider Stories at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 10, in the Library Center auditorium.

Anansi is one of the most important characters of West African and Caribbean folklore, often considered to be the spirit of all knowledge of stories.

Emmy Award-winning storyteller Bobby Norfolk will bring this African trickster to life with tales that teach timeless values to kids. Sponsored by the Missouri Arts Council, the Library Foundation and the Friends of the Library. For all ages.

Norfolk returns with Dreams Deferred from 6:30-8 p.m. that day at Timmons Hall, 1055 E. Webster St., Springfield.

All aboard! Jump on the "A" train to celebrate the African American art, music and poetry exploding out of Harlem in the early 20th century. During this artistic journey, Norfolk will make stops for poetry, prose, vignettes and toe-tapping music.

The evening will begin with a meet-and-greet costume party, so come dressed to celebrate and mingle with living history figures of the literary art movement! Sponsored by the Missouri Arts Council, the Library Foundation and the Friends of the Library. For all ages.
