Soup's On! New Cafe Opens at The Library Center
You can get a cup of coffee, a sandwich, salad and sweets with your books once again at the Library Center in south Springfield. The Polymath Educational Café TLC is open five days a week with a “grab-and-go” menu.
Owner Michelle Obermaier, who also runs a Marshfield café of the same name, fills the café vacancy left when Seattle Roast closed on Feb. 4, 2023.
Hours are Sundays, noon–5 p.m. and Monday–Thursday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. For details visit facebook.com/PolymathTLC.
Obermaier prepares and packages most of the food items – sandwiches, salads, soups, cinnamon rolls – at the Marshfield café and delivers them to Springfield, so customers can quickly “grab-and-go” most items. The café also features gluten-free and vegan snacks.
The Library District is planning a capital campaign to help fund expansion of the 150-person auditorium to a 400-seat facility. Plans are not complete yet, but Obermaier says she entered the venture understanding that construction could affect the café operation.
