Adventure Begins at the Library This Summer

Everyone is invited to find an adventure at the Library starting June 1. The Summer Reading program is for kids of all ages and adults, too. Fill your summer with reading challenges and boredom-busting activities. Plus, kids can grow their reading skills and earn great rewards.

From June 1 to Aug. 10, we have a program tailored for every age group: Tiny Tots & Preschool: Birth–Age 5; Kids: Ages 6–11; Teens: Ages 12-18. We haven't forgotten about the adults either, with a Summer Reading Program that offers a sign-up gift and chances for cool prizes in August. We've thought of everyone, ensuring a summer of learning and fun for all.

The program is funded by the Friends of the Library.

Starting June 1, participants can pick up a game board at any Springfield-Greene County Library branch or the Mobile Library or log on to the library.org/summerreading and follow links to register for the reading program that fits them. Start logging reading minutes and complete the activities to earn great prizes.

In addition to the reading incentives, kids are invited to join us for fun and free programming all summer. Performers include Uke 66, Magic Begins at Your Library, Down the Rabbit Hole with the Springfield Ballet, The Spectacular Suitcase of Stupendous Stories, Will Struck’s Adventure into the Absurd and even a performance by the Stone Lion Puppet Theatre.  The Library will also host five Fantastic Friday events at area attractions like the Springfield Nature Center and the Gray/Campbell Farmstead.

Prizes include a free book, a fine waiver card and a Youth Summer Passport featuring free treats and admissions to Andy B’s, Chick-fil-A, Diventures, Little Caesars, Pineapple Whip, Village Meeple Board Game Café and Willard Aquatic Center.

Visit thelibrary.org/summerreading for a complete schedule of events, or see Bookends, the free calendar of events at any branch.
