For further information on income taxes as well as a list of frequently asked questions, view the Income Tax Resources guide.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

The VITA program is generally for taxpayers of low-to-moderate income ($56,000 or less).

The Community Partnership of the Ozarks coordinates with several organizations to provide the VITA program in the Greene County area. Community volunteers and MSU and Drury students prepare free basic federal and state tax returns with electronic filing for qualified individuals.

VITA clinics will operate from early February to the end of tax season and most require appointments. Call 2-1-1 or 417-720-2000 after January 14 or consult their website, for further information and to make an appointment.

Tax Counseling for the Elderly

The TCE program is primarily for adults 60 years of age and over, but other ages can receive the service after older adults have been served.

The SeniorAge Area Agency on Aging TCE program provides free tax preparation and assistance. IRS-certified volunteers specialize in questions about pensions and retirement-related issues unique to seniors. They will prepare federal and state tax returns and Missouri Property Tax Credit (and rent rebate) forms.

TCE sites will operate from early February to the end of tax season and all require appointments. Contact your nearest SeniorAge Senior Center, visit their website, or call 417-862-0762 after January 2, for further information.
