Doling Park (view 4 of 7), Lake
This postcard, published by Browne Book and Stationary Co., is postmarked 1908. It shows a huge crowd on the parkland surrounding the lake. Across the water can be seen a beautiful white wooden bridge. Couples are shown boating and canoeing. The eastern slope of the park is full of picnic tables. This is Doling Park when it was the center of entertainment in Springfield. During its heyday, from 1907 to 1929, the park sometimes contained over 100 buses of people from all over Missouri.
