'Holiday Open House' and Santa Kick Off Annual 'Holiday Store' for Kids at Library Center and Library Station
November 17, 2010 — The tough economy hits kids, too, especially when they want to buy Christmas gifts for their family, best friends and teachers. Just in time, the annual Holiday Store sponsored by the Springfield-Greene County Library District will welcome children beginning Saturday, November 27, with a storehouse of gifts at kid-friendly prices.
Opening day kicks off with the annual Holiday Open House and a “Polar Express” theme, with games for kids, crafts, drawings, cookies, hot chocolate and candy canes, and photographs with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
The Holiday Open House on November 27 will be from 8:30-10 a.m. at the Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell Ave., and from 10:30 a.m.-noon at the Library Station, 2535 N. Kansas Expressway.
Then plan to stay and shop at the Holiday Store, with gifts for everyone on a child’s list, all priced from 25 cents to $5. Friends of the Library volunteers will help children shop for everyone on their gift list; children can wrap their gifts or get help from a volunteer or parent. Proceeds from the Holiday Store support children’s summer reading programs throughout the library district.
Holiday Store hours:
- Library Center: 9 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Saturday, November 27; 10 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday, November 29-December 4; and 1-4:30 p.m. Sunday, November 28 and December 5.
