Fantastic Friday at the Steam Engine Grounds June 26
June 15, 2015 —
Heat water and what do you get? Steam power! Our friends from the Ozark Steam Engine Association and the Southwest Early Day Gas Engine and Tractor Association are dedicated to restoring the steam-powered engines used in farming and industry in the mid-19th century around the Ozarks and the nation.
Children in grades K-5 and their families are invited to join us for Fantastic Friday at the Steam Engine Grounds from 10 a.m.-noon on Friday, June 26. Members of the associations will open the Steam-O-Rama event grounds to summer readers for a magnificent visit to the past, with activities, tours of these marvelous machines and stories read by KY3's Mike Landis and the Republic Branch librarian.
Parked on the grounds with the steam engine-powered tractors and machines will be the Mobile Library (powered by diesel, not steam), so bring your library card!
The Steam Engine Grounds are located east of the Republic city limits, on the south side of U.S. 60. Entrance to the grounds is from Farm Road 170.
