Attend 'An Evening with Emily St. John Mandel' April 12 at Library Center

April 4, 2018 — Author Emily St. John MandelInternational best-selling author Emily St. John Mandel sits down with Community Relations Director Kathleen O’Dell from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, in the Library Center auditorium, for an interview-style discussion of her writing and the major themes of “Station Eleven.” Copies of her book will be available for purchase and signing after the event.

Mandel says her dystopian novel combines her interest in theater and its devoted actors; her appreciation for the everyday conveniences of modern life and the question: What would we do in their absence?

Emily St. John Mandel was born in British Columbia, Canada. "Station Eleven was a finalist for a 2014 National Book Award and a New York Times Bestseller. Her previous novels were "Last Night in Montreal," "The Singer's Gun" and "The Lola Quartet." She is a staff writer for The Millions, and her work has appeared in numerous anthologies.

This program is a Big Read event, the library’s one book, one community celebration focusing on “Station Eleven” by Emily St. John Mandel. Visit thelibrary.org/bigread for a complete schedule of events.
