Take a STEAM Challenge All Summer with the Library!

May 8, 2020 —  Mrs. Davis from the Library Station challenges you to a summer of STEAM - science, technology, engineering, art and math in these online presentations. 

 Stop by each Monday to discover a new video challenge using materials you have at home and the Library's online resources. New content will be posted on Mondays at 11 a.m. for grades 1-6. Visit before these programs for details on accessing these virtual events. No registration is required.

  • June 1: Flying Machine Challenge. Learn to make a classic glider to experiment with the physics of flight. 

  • June 8: Trick Your Eyes Challenge. Discover how your eyes work and design a thaumatrope to trick them.

  • June 15: Tessellation Challenge. Use math and your creativity to create a unique work of art.

  • June 22: Topsy Turvy Challenge. Learn about balance and create a wacky asymmetrical spinning top to amaze your family.

  • June 29: Music Maker Challenge. Explore the science of sound and learn how to make an instrument from stuff at home.

  • July 6: CSI Challenge. Examine your fingerprints and discover how they are alike or different from your family.

  • July 13: Making Waves Challenge. Build a tsunami in a bottle to observe how underwater earthquakes affect waves.

  • July 20: What's the Matter Challenge. Learn a cool "magic" trick and explore states of matter.

  • July 27: That's How The Ball Bounces Challenge. Use chemistry to make your own bouncy ball.
