League of Women Voters Hosting Registration, Ballot Notarizing at Six Libraries

June 18, 2020 — The League of Women Voters will register voters and notarize absentee ballots at a series of outdoor opportunities beginning Thursday, June 25, at six branches of the Springfield-Greene County Library. Last day to register to vote in the Aug. 4 primary is July 8.

                The League is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to the informed and active participation of citizens in our democracy. Members encourage citizen participation in the democratic process.

To maintain safe social distancing during COVID 19, the League of Women Voters will set up in the parking lots of the following branches to assist voters with the above services.

  • Thursday, June 25, Republic Branch, 8:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m., 921 N. Lindsey Ave.; and the Library Center, 2-6 p.m., 4653 S. Campbell Ave.
  • Tuesday, June 30, Library Station, 8:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. 2535 N. Kansas Expressway; and the Midtown Carnegie Branch, 2-6 p.m., 397 E. Central St.
  • Thursday, July 2, Schweitzer Brentwood Branch, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 2214 Brentwood Blvd.; and the Willard Branch, 2-6 p.m., 304 E. Jackson St.

League members will provide these voter services:

Voter Registration  

  • New registration – if you are a new voter in Greene County
  • Name change – if your name has changed since the last time you voted, you’ll need to update your registration
  • Change of address – if your address has changed since the last time you voted, you’ll need to update your voter registration   

Notarization of mail-in ballot for Aug. 4 primary

 You do not need your mail-in ballot notarized if you meet one of the following at-risk requirements:

  • You expect to be confined due to illness or disability, or are caring for someone who is.
  • You are at risk for one of the following reasons:  65 years or older, in a long-term care facility, or if you have chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma, a serious heart condition, diabetes, liver disease or are immunocompromised.

 If you wish to vote by mail but do not meet any of the above requirements, you must have your mail in ballot notarized.

Absentee voting begins Tuesday, June 23. Ballots must be received by the Greene County Clerk by close of polls on Election Day, Aug. 4. For more information about absentee voting and to request your ballot go to https://greenecountymo.gov/county_clerk/election/absentee.php
