Automatic renewals for materials starts July 1
June 22, 2021 — Beginning July 1, most physical library materials checked out from the Springfield Greene-County Library will automatically renew two days before their original due date, except for items that are ineligible for renewal due to outstanding holds, some special loans, and other rare exceptions.
Previously, patrons had to request all renewals through their library account online, by telephone, text or in person. The Library is adopting automatic renewals to help patrons prevent overdue fines.
Patrons who have elected to receive emailed due date reminders and notifications from the Library will receive an email with the new due dates for items that were renewed automatically and a reminder to return any items that were not able to be renewed.
Patrons who receive notifications by phone or mail will not receive a notice with the updated due dates, but their accounts will reflect the new due dates of any automatically renewed items. Most library items check out for three weeks at a time.
If patrons wish to renew an item a second time, they may do so by logging into their library account online, by telephone, text, or in-person at a Library branch.
