Gather ‘Round for Stories in the Park with Your Favorite Librarians

August 25, 2021 — Young children and parents looking for activities to keep busy while older siblings are in school, or missing the Library’s in-person storytimes, will have something familiar to look forward to in September as some of their favorite Springfield-Greene County Library children’s librarians bring storytime to area parks.

Babies, toddlers and preschoolers, along with their adult caregivers, can gather safely outdoors for stories, songs and activities at these upcoming Stories in the Park events:

  • Ash Grove City Park, 300 W. Parkway St., Ash Grove: 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, September 1-29.

  • Doling Park, 301 E. Talmage St.: 10 a.m. Fridays, September 3-24. Meet in the large pavilion behind the Family Center near the playground. Provided in partnership with the Springfield-Greene County Park Board.

  • Jackson Street Park, 222 W. Jackson St., Willard: 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays, September 7-28.

  • J.R. Martin Park, 300 E. Hines St., Republic: 10 a.m. Tuesdays, September 7-28. Meet at The Amp, we’ll move to the pavilion in case of rain. Provided in partnership with the Republic Parks and Rec Department.
Bonus on September 7: We'll enjoy the StoryWalk® featuring "Big Dance" by Aoife Greenham together! Meet at The Amp and join us for a walk through the StoryWalk®. StoryWalks® are a fun way for families to enjoy the outdoors while you read the pages of a book posted along a short walking path. The StoryWalk® will be available at J.R. Martin Park from September 7-21.

  • Living Memorial Park, 4323 S. Nature Center Way: 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, September 8 and 22. Wind down your evening with park play, stories, music, movement and a take-home activity. Sack suppers and snacks are welcome. Provided in partnership with the Springfield-Greene County Park Board. Our Park Board partners will present bat flight activities at these events!
