Kids Can Enjoy STEM Fun at Home with Library STEM Kits

July 22, 2022 — Kids are all about STEM and STEAM these days, and for good reason. Toys and learning kits that integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and sometimes Art are great tools for stimulating their curiosity, problem solving and preparing them for future professional pursuits.

The Springfield-Greene County Libraries have regular STEM and STEAM programs for kids. Now they can enjoy STEM fun at home by checking out a library STEM Kit with a library card at any library branch.

The kits are geared for children in grades 1-5, and let them explore their favorite STEM topics.

Find the kit you want to try at thelibrary.org/catalog keyword: “Stem Kit.”

Topics include engineering, sound, coding and basic science concepts like simple machines, and magnets. Look for these and other kits:

  • Three little pigs problem solving
  • Robotics and coding
  • Explore outdoors
  • Trucks and tools
  • All about magnets
  • Magna tiles

Some components in the kits may require batteries, and some include a number of components and pieces.

The project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provision of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.
