Let the Kids Catch the Spirit at Our Holiday Storytimes and Movies

November 23, 2022 —   Take a break from the bustle of the season and let us entertain the kids with stories, snacks, crafts and music in December. There’s plenty to do and see at The Library, here are our holiday programs.

 Pre-Parade Holiday Storytime. Drop by the Park Central Branch Library from 1-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, for a special interactive holiday storytime before the Downtown Springfield Christmas Parade! We'll have holiday crafts for families to make before or during the parade. Provided in a partnership with Springfield Regional Arts Council.

 Jingle and Mingle from 1-3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at the Fair Grove Branch Library. Grades 7-12 are welcome to get together for some holiday cheer at our holiday arts and crafts party. Materials will be provided.

 Family Pajama & Movie Night spells fun at the Ash Grove Branch Library from
4 p.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, for grades K-5. Wear your coziest pajamas and bring your favorite blanket and stuffed animal for holiday movie night featuring "Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas," rated PG, starring Jim Carrey. Hot chocolate and cookies provided.

 Merry Grinchmas is one way to celebrate the holidays from 2-5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, for all ages at the Strafford Branch Library. We’ll have Grinch-inspired crafts, activities and snacks while you watch "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas," rated PG.

 Family Winter Craft Night is 4-6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, for grades K-12 in the Ash Grove Branch Library. From holiday cards to sock snowmen, have fun crafting as a family with a variety of projects to suit different age groups and skill levels. Materials will be provided.

Christmas Storytime comes to the Willard Branch Library at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, for infants-age 6. Celebrate the season with a Christmas storytime filled with stories, songs and a craft, and our special guest – Santa!

 A Special Holiday Storytime is on tap for infants-age 6 at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at the Ash Grove Branch Library. We'll ring in the holidays with festive stories, crafts and activities. Materials will be provided.

 Noon Year's Eve Party! Families with kids from Infants-age 6 are invited to help us count down to the New Year from 11:15 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Dec. 31, in the Library Station Story Hour Room. This is a special Racing to Read Storytime featuring stories, songs, crafts and more! Older siblings are welcome to attend.
