HISTORICAL POSTCARDS OF SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI
Public Square (view 7 of 7)
This is an early 1950s photograph of the northwest part of the Public Square. It is centered on the beautiful Heer's Department Store. The three buildings to the left of Heer's are Newberry's, Woolworth's, and Springfield Finance Loans. The 10-story building to the right of Heer's in the photograph is the Missouri State Office Building. The caption on the back of the card merely states: "Public Square, Springfield, Mo. Queen City of the Ozarks."
